Children and youths are a very delicate group and need to be handled with all the care there is. They hold the key to the future yet they are so vulnerable because they are easy targets of abuse. Issues that need to be addressed here include rights, abuse, unemployment, exclusion and child labour. Most of the youths are unemployed and suffer from an acute case of socio-economic exclusion. On the other hand some under-age children are being forced into working creating ugly scenes of child labor.
Children have their own specific rights that are meant to protect them from abuse and that guarantee them their basic needs like education, health, shelter and food.
The youths on the other hand do not fully participate in various socio-economic activities that happen around them. As highlighted above, most of them are unemployed and have no legitimate income generating projects to do which has led to idleness. Some of them however, find idleness unbearable and have resorted to being involved in illegal activities like drug abuse, prostitution, crime and other illegitimate dealings. This is what makes us very concerned and we are very eager to help them build their future. In some cases politicians have often profited from this idleness and have been using youths to wage violence in communities especially during election time. By investing our time and resources in the protection and development of the youth we hope to better the future of the world as the youths and children are the future.
