Life is precious, priceless and irreplaceable. The Friendly Society exists to ensure that every one of us can at least afford to have a decent life, lived with dignity and respect. Life is everyone’s right and that right must not be taken away from anyone. We are against hunger, war, xenophobia, genocide, all forms of violence, suicides, diseases, road accidents and many other unfriendly incidences that may bring death or harm to humanity. Infant mortality rate is also our big concern. It should at all times be kept at the minimum. We want to join hands with everyone and work together to prevent all preventable child deaths through vaccination and nutrition among other efforts.
In 1948 the United Nations General assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and article three of the declaration was dedicated to the right to life. “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person,” reads the declaration. The United Nations General Assembly again in 1966 adopted the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Article 6.1 of the covenant reads, “Every human being has the inherent right to life. This right shall be protected by law. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his life”.
